Are you like me?
Do you read some parts of the Bible and wonder, “how on earth am I going to live up to that standard?” I remember the day my eyes were opened to Ephesians 4:29. I just started laughing out loud. I asked God, “how on earth is it possible to, only, say things that edify?”
Our human nature, don’t want us to do anything that is connected to our spirits, and our spirit is the part of us that is connected to Jesus. The Bible tells us that our flesh and spirit are constantly at war (SEE Galatians 5:17). So know it; your flesh doesn’t want you to do the bidding of God.
Our flesh, is never working for our good? It tells us: “add more sugar” it aches, when we do the run, planks, squats and sit-ups. When it’s book night, it gets tired almost immediately, but when it’s movie night, it wants to stay much longer than bargained, then early the next day it wants us to stay in bed like it deserves some kind of trophy for staying up all night and watching movies, even when it knows we have something important to do. It wants us to eat beyond our capacity. It is quick to condemn and say the wrong things, but slow to compliment and point out rights… this dust clothing called flesh, is a wild beast that wants to destroy us… and a STRONG ally of the devil… so you can never trust it for anything, at any time. THIS SHOULD EMPOWER YOU THOUGH.
Why should the above information empower you?
Because, now you know you don’t have to keep giving the flesh what it wants. You don’t have to go into the place of prayer only when you feel like it. You don’t have to wait to be gingered before you read and study the scriptures. You don’t have to do what God expects of you only when it’s easy and convenient. If your flesh knows that you will never do them until you feel like it, your flesh will never allow you to feel like it…it will keep giving you beautiful, and convincing reasons not to do them. Trust me; the reasons will be so awesome that you’ll never see any other way out.
You have to understand that God cannot ask of us, what He knows we cannot give.
If the Bible says “pray without ceasing” it’s because God knows we can pray without ceasing. If the Bible says “rejoice always” it’s because God knows that we have the capacity in us, no matter what, to rejoice always. If the Bible says “have faith” it’s because we can have moving mountains faith. If the Bible says “forgive” it’s because on our inside lies a force that’s greater than our hurts. If the Bible says “rebuke the devil” it’s because the devil can’t access our life like we’ve been thinking he can. If it’s in the scripture for us, it’s because we can achieve it, with the help of the Holy Spirit
So ignore your flesh, because your flesh speaks the same language with the devil—LIES… little wonder why they’re bond allies. Listen to what the Bible tells you about you. You can’t trust your flesh to tell you what you can or can’t do. The Bible, through the help of the Holy Spirit, reveals to us, what we can or can’t do.
You are not your flesh!
We have to start treating our flesh as an entity that is not part of us…sounds funny and a bit confusing, so let me explain better. Recently, I’ve been having legit conversations with my flesh. I tell it what I want it to do, I try to tell it why I can’t do what it wants me to do, and we just have these conversations. I’m like “flesh you’re not going onto the other side of eternity with me. The best is, I live long with you here on earth, and when I’m leaving this side of eternity, you’re not coming with me.”
Think of it, all our loved ones that have moved over to the other side of eternity didn’t go with their flesh. We buried their flesh here, but that doesn’t mean they’re where we buried their flesh. The real “them” has gone to somewhere waiting for the white throne judgment.
So dear one, you’re not your flesh. Your flesh is just a container that is helping you stay visible on earth. The real you is a spirit, so you can’t allow the flesh decide how you live your life. You tell your flesh how to live… and guess what… it obeys.
So how is your life, when placed side-by-side with what the scriptures says concerning us?
And what do you think is stopping you from living the life God has called us to live? Why do you still fear? Why do you still struggle with addictions? Why do you still take longer to forgive? Why do you still compromise here and there? Why are you so timid with your faith? Why don’t you exude the expressions of the Fruit of the Spirit? Why don’t you operate in any gift of the Spirit? Why can’t you hear God for yourself? Why do you still feel sick? Why does it look like your rights and privileges, as a joint-heir with Jesus, is FAR beyond your reach? Why? Why?? Why???…
You’re not alone. I don’t have it all together too, but I want to…and our loving Father has been super amazing, as I journey with Him… and I just want to invite you to begin your own journey with Him.
This post is to tell you that you can live the HIGHER life and to bring you to the point where you believe you will, and hence decide to…and then start Living!
But,
Let me pause right here and say: this doesn’t mean you’ll never make mistakes again, what it means is, you’ll stop fighting the same battle at the same spot…it means you now overcome your current battles and keep moving… get to another battle, win, and keep moving…get to another, win, and keep moving…get to yet another, win, and keep moving… BECAUSE THIS IS THE LIFE WE’RE CALLED TO LIVE!
Our path is expected to keep getting better and brighter, like a perfect day (SEE Proverbs 4:18).
The Israelites never lost a battle, after their exit from Egypt, until they got to the promise land. They wondered in the wilderness because of their unbelief. They limited God. Their problem was never their enemies. When they decided to move God gave then VICTORIES upon VICTORIES. It is the same for us too…the devil is not our problem…our flesh is not our problem… when we decide to move HIGHER with God, nothing can stop us. When we read the Bible, see the things that seem impossible to achieve, decide to achieve them…God’s Grace comes to our aid. We can NEVER achieve them on our own, (don’t even try, because you CAN’T! on your own) but we rejoice because we know that when we submit ourselves under the mighty flow of God’s Grace, nothing is impossible to achieve.
I’ve been meditating, and declaring some popular scriptures like never before, and I just want to share with you. You don’t have to be limited to these scriptures, search the Bible and add to your own list. I sure will be adding to my list as I get revelations from other scriptures. So Here:
“I write to you who believe in…the name of the son of God…so that you may know (with settled and absolute knowledge) that you already have life, yes eternal life” 1 John 5:1 (AMP)
“And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together—giving us joint seating with Him—in the Heavenly sphere (by virtue of our being) in Christ Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed one” Ephesians 2:6 (AMP)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God’s own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9 (AMP)
“In this (union and communion with Him) Love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment—with assurance and boldness to face Him — because as He is, so are you in this world” 1 John 4:17 (AMP)
Get it? You already have the very life of Jesus…so you have everything it takes to express that life here on earth.
“Little children, you are of God— you belong to Him—and have (already) defeated and overcome the (the agents and antichrist), because He who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world” 1 John 4:4 (AMP)
“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me— I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me (that is, I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency” Philippians 4:13 (AMP)
“Yet amid all these things, we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him who Loved us” Romans 8:37 (AMP)
“God is faithful (to His word and to His compassionate nature), and He can be trusted not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will always provide the way out—the means of escape to a landing place—that you may be capable and strong and powerful patiently to bear under it” 1Corinthians 10:13 (AMP)
“But thank be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph…” 2 Corinthians 2:14 (AMP)
You’re fighting from a point of Victory… you’re already Victorious, God made sure!
And do you know that living the HIGHER life is not hard? The Bible tells us:
“For the true love of God is this, that we do His commands—keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching. And these orders of His are not irksome— burdensome, oppressive and grievous” 1 John 5:3 (AMP)
“For my yoke is wholesome (useful and good)—not harsh, hard or sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant; and my burden is light and easy to be borne” Mathew 11:30 (AMP)
Plus, we have a Helper that is here on earth to help us do this HIGHER life, to help us tame this flesh:
“However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say, it is profitable—good, expedient, advantageous—for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you— into a close fellowship with you. But if I go away, I will send Him to you—to be in close fellowship with you” John 16:7 (AMP)
Nothing is worth GIVING UP our relationship with Jesus… also… Nothing is worth making our relationship with Jesus stagnant… Nothing!
I pray we get to the point where our relationship with Jesus becomes our most valuable treasure.
I pray it becomes easy for us to give up anything, any place and anyone for Jesus.
I pray it becomes impossible to give up our relationship with Jesus or even strain the relationship… no matter what, no matter where… no matter whom.
Amen.
