STEP OUT!… WITH YOUR EXPERIENCES

It’s not about using theological terms. It’s not about quoting the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. It’s not about looking for fancy words… it’s simple; it’s deliberately talking about your experiences of Jesus and how to get to Jesus… Step out.

Say it the way it comes naturally from your heart, with your “supposedly” amateur words, with the scriptures you know, in the way that’s very comfortable and real to you… talk about your experiences of Jesus. Let your world know Him and what He is doing in your life… and of course, how to get to Him.

YOUR UNIQUENESS IS HEAVEN APPROVED

When you want to talk about Jesus, it is not a time to sound like someone else or the time to borrow the format and words of someone else. It is a time to stick to your originality. Your uniqueness was forged in heaven and God knew what He wants to do with it here on earth. No one is like you on earth and no one can ever be like you, so when you hide yourself and decide to take up another man’s way of doing it… it might be fruitful, but you’re denying the world your unique touch, and your unique touch is a necessity for the world, it’s not just a want or need, but a timely necessity… if it wasn’t you wouldn’t have made it to earth… you wouldn’t be alive and present in the world.

“Before I formed you in the womb
I knew and approved of you…
And before you were born
I separated and set you apart…”
Jeremiah 1:5 (AMP)

God is VERY INTENTIONAL; He created everyone with a specific purpose. You’re on earth because your uniqueness is needed in the world; you’re in the kingdom of God because your uniqueness is needed by the kingdom of God, here on the earth.

YOUR EXPERIENCES ARE BIG DEALS

As we talk about the scriptures (and we should, because the Bible tells us that “Every scripture is God-breathed… and profitable for instruction…reproof…conviction of sin… ” 2 Timothy 3:16) we should relate it to our personal experiences because God wants to use our personal experiences as well. Why? Well, it is only natural that someone will understand an idea if he can relate to it. Our experiences in this time and age are things that unbelievers can relate to, because it is similar to what they are experiencing too. So, let’s not downplay our experiences… they are Big Deals!

…IN WORDS AND IN DEEDS

Our proclamation of Jesus is mostly about what we say, but what we say MUST match our actions. Truth is we don’t always get it a 100%, but we have to allow the Holy Spirit to keep getting us better. Have you ever had the phrase: “Actions speak louder than voice”… it is true, even the Bible tells us “…Jesus has reconciled us to Himself and brought us into the ministry of reconciliation- that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:18 (AMP)

We have to understand that we can share our experiences of Jesus by what we do and the way we do it,  that way we can attract people to ourselves and they will eventually find our secret, our Hero— Jesus!

GOOD NEWS: IT’S NOT YOUR JOB TO CONVICT AND CONVINCE AN UNBELIEVER

All God needs us to do is talk about Jesus, He doesn’t want us to worry about the after effect. When we share our experiences of Jesus and how to get to Jesus with others, the Holy Spirit picks it up from there. It is His job to convict and convince an unbeliever.

Jesus while talking to His disciple about the Holy Spirit says:

“… but if I go away, I will send Him to you—
To be in close fellowship with you
And when He comes, He will Convict and
Convince the world… about sin…”
John 16:7-8 (AMP)

Isn’t it a relief to know it’s not our job to do the convicting and convincing? I think it should be. Truth is we can’t always predict what will happen when we’re done talking about Jesus or when we’re at it, but we are sure that the Holy Spirit gets to work when we plant Jesus as a seed anywhere. This should not just make us ease; it should take us further to the point where we can’t just wait to give the Holy Spirit yet another opportunity to do His work in a man’s life.

NONETHELESS PRAY FOR THE SOIL, BEFORE AND AFTER

The Bible tells us to pray for the free course of the gospel (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2), so we must pray for the mission before and after it is carried out… always.  When we pray, tremendous things happen in the spiritual realm, which out dominates the physical realm.

The Bible tells us to resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7), also the Bible tells us that whatsoever we decree here on earth is established in heaven (Mathew 18:18), so there’s power when we make decrees in prayer. We have to take advantage, we have to pray that hearts are receptive, that hearts become fertile, that the veil of the devil be removed… and after we’re done speaking about our experiences and how to get to Jesus, we should also pray that hearts be receptive to the work of the Holy Spirit.

If praying isn’t a necessity, the Bible wouldn’t tell us to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

IT’S ALSO A COMMAND

When Jesus was captured and killed, all who had already believed in Him became silent, because of fear. When Jesus resurrected, He appear to them and told them so many things, but His final remark was that they go and tell the world about Him.

“And He said to them, go into all the world
And preach and publish openly the good news
(The Gospel) to every creature (of the
The whole human race)”
Mark 15:16 (AMP)

Yes, Jesus wouldn’t force us to do what we don’t want to, but we need to understand that it is important to Him, and it is His heart beat to see an unsaved man come to know Him, little wonder why heaven, always, burst into celebration when a sinner accepts the offering of Jesus.

THE PLACE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Like we see in Acts 1 and 2, it is the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit that made Peter move from a person that denied Jesus three times, to a person that, fearlessly, stood before  many and  shared his experiences of Jesus, causing three thousand souls to be added to the church. It was Jesus, Himself, that told Paul and other disciples to wait for the person of the Holy Spirit, before they step out.

We too need the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit, to effectively carry out this great commission. It does not take much to receive the person of the Holy Spirit, just truly desire it and ask for it, and you’ll receive (Luke 11:11-13).

The Holy Spirit teaches us ALL things and shows us things that are to come. He is our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby (John 16:7.13 AMP) … we can’t overemphasis the place of the Holy Spirit; we truly need Him.

Now if for some reasons, you still feel you’ve not receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, while you seek counsel from other Christians and try to sort it out with God in the place of prayer, STEP OUT IN FAITH, be like the Samaritan woman, go on and talk about your experiences of Jesus. This woman didn’t have the Holy Spirit, in fact the Holy Spirit wasn’t on earth then, but because of her testimony her city came to the knowledge of Jesus.

DON’T LISTEN TO THE father OF ALL LIES

One of the major reasons Christians find it hard to tell others about their experiences of Jesus, is because they don’t feel worthy or ready. But here is the truth: we can’t work with our feelings, because we aren’t worthy by ourselves, we are gifted with the worthiness of Jesus… and the right time is always now.

That you lied yesterday, that you committed fornication yesterday, that you stole yesterday… that you’re still struggling with an addiction, that you’re always the loud one, that people condemn you for even calling yourself a Christian, that you just gave your life to Christ… all of these, and much more that are popping up in your head right now are not reasons to not share your experiences of Jesus… why? Because no matter what you do to feel worthy, the devil will still find a way to make you feel unworthy.

I’m not saying we should keep living in sin, not at all. I’m saying the devil uses condemnation to hold us back. Don’t let him!

So take yourself away, and make it all about Jesus. Always remind yourself that the reason you can dare have an experience with Jesus, much more talk about Him is a rare privilege that was given to you, without your own effort.

Actually, when you decide to ignore your unworthiness and take giant strides to talk about your experiences of Jesus, you put yourself in the power of God’s Grace, which will eventually help you overcome weaknesses, one step at a time… depending on how much you yield. I AM A LIVING TESTIMONY!

BE INTENTIONAL…

At the beginning or the ending of each week, sit with the Holy Spirit and map out plans with Him, plans on how to reach out to an unsaved world… with your experiences of Jesus.

We plan our week, we plan what to do and what not to do, let’s include this in our plan. We have to be this very intentional; we can’t leave it by chance. We have to treat it as a serious business, because it is. It is the business of the kingdom. As a matter of fact, we have to be very passionate about it.

IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT, ASK GOD TO HELP YOU RENEW YOUR MIND

Are you guilty of the crime of not talking about Jesus? Well, you don’t have to beat yourself up; no one is sending you to prison. All you need do is spend time in the place of prayer and ask God to help you renew your mind, because being in the state of not sharing Jesus is not a place any true born again Christian should be in.

Look around you, lives are lost every day, lives are also being lost, we can’t sit back and not take actions, because it’s in our hands to do the job of reconciling men to Christ (2 Corinthians 5:18).
