EXPERIENCE JESUS… DAILY

“And He said to all, if anyone wills to come after Me,
Let him deny himself—that is, disown himself, forget,
Lose sight of himself and his own interest, refuse and give
Up himself— and take up his cross daily, and follow Me
(that is, cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My
Example, in living and if need be in dying also)”
Luke 9:23 (AMP)

First, Jesus is the one speaking in the above scripture.

Second, when I say experience Jesus…  I’m talking about the FULL experience of the Trinity; God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is the emphasis because He is the ONLY door way to God, and a relationship with Him is a MUST for an assurance of the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Plus any and everything we can ever access from the Father, through the Holy Spirit MUST be in His name… so really, really, it’s all about Him… it’s an experience of Him.

Having said the above, I want to submit to our hearts, why we just don’t need an experience of Him, but an experience of Him… daily.

WE NEED TO LEARN OF JESUS

Hebrews 12:2 admonishes us to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our Faith, and in Mathew 11:29, Jesus, Himself, calls on us to learn of Him. Daily, we’ll face things that’ll leave us thinking “what kind of a life is this?” because no matter how we think we’ve mastered life, life will always surprise us with twist and turns, and when life births these twist and turns we need to have something solid to fall back on. We’re blessed to have the Rock to fall back on. There’s nothing that we go through or will ever go through in life that He didn’t experience in His own way while He was on earth. He didn’t just experience them, He overcame them. So we need to learn how to deal with life, from Him, daily. We need His Grace to go through life… daily.

“For we do not have a High Priest Who is
Unable to understand and sympathize and have a fellow
Feeling with our weakness and infirmities and liability
To the assaults of temptation, but one Who has been
Tempted in every aspect as we are, yet without sinning
Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly
Draw near to the throne of Grace—the throne of God’s
Unmerited favour… that we may receive mercy (for our
Failures) and find Grace to help in good time for every
Need-appropriate help and well—timed help, coming just
When we need it”
Hebrews 4:15-16 (AMP)

Now Jesus isn’t the source of our problems, but He permits them, because He knows that when they come we have yet another opportunity to learn of Him… to dig deeper and come out stronger.

How did you react when that lady got on your nerve yet again? When you were angry and irritated, how did you react to people around you today? Is your flesh in agreement with your spirit a 100%? If no then you need Jesus every day to learn to keep getting better.

AS WE CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE HIM, WE’RE TRANSFORMING INTO HIS IMAGE.

An experience with Jesus daily will definitely include: reading the Bible, studying the Bible, meditating on the Bible, using the Bible as a sword to attack the devil and to affirm our victory.

2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us that as “we continue to behold (in the Word of God) as in a mirror the glory of the Lord (Jesus), we’re constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another…” so why take a day off from becoming like Jesus?

Also, it is possible to go through a day without having a time where you’ll need to put the devil in his place? In Ephesians 6, the Bible calls the Word, the Sword of the Spirit… if the devil don’t take break from attacking us, we can’t take break from the Sword of the Spirit… if the devil attacks us daily, then we need the Word daily… Jesus is the Word!

Most of the devil’s attack towards us is for us to sin, and Psalm 119:11 tells us that when we lay up the Word in our hearts, we can’t sin against God. We don’t just sit and wait for the devil to throw his attack before we start getting ready. No. we wake up each day, ready. We read, meditate and hide the Word in our hearts; so we don’t sin against God, so we can attack the devil when necessary.

And as we keep reading, meditating, and using the Word as a tool against the devil, we keep being transformed into the image of Jesus.

THE VERY LIFE WE’RE CALLED TO LIVE CANNOT BE FRUITFUL, AS IT SHOULD BE, WITHOUT A DAILY EXPERIENCE OF JESUS

We’ve been called into a life that is Holy Spirit FILLED and Holy Spirit CONTROLLED. We’re never to put confidence in our flesh (Philippians 3:3). We’re never to do anything the flesh wants to do. Now, how in the world do we intend to achieve this without a daily experience of Jesus?  No How!

This explains why we’re, sometimes or most times (you know where you fall into), not FRUITFUL as Christians, because  we try to live life without Jesus. We feel we have had Him for a while and He can’t leave us and so it’s not like we’re leaving Him either, but let’s just take a break today. This attitude is from the pit of hell. The devil doesn’t take breaks from his attack towards us. The devil doesn’t wake up and say;

“Give Debra a break today, cause we’ve been on her case for a while now”

No, he doesn’t take break from us… and we can’t take breaks from our Hero— Jesus.

You know how you put everything about work down, with a resolution not to pick it up or even think about it until a certain time? So you travel, hang out with real buddies, see your favourite movies, sleep a lot, and turn off your work line… and just chill…

Well, we don’t have all of that in our walk with Jesus.

Why?

Because our WALK with Jesus is not a WORK (job), it’s Life… our Life

“For in Him we live and move
And have our being…”
Acts 17:28 (AMP)

So there are no breaks… when we take breaks from Jesus, we take breaks from Life.

WE NEED TO SOAK IN THE LOVE OF JESUS, DAILY

We can’t go through a day without the devil pouring quilt and condemnation on us; hence we need to soak in the Love of Jesus daily. If you don’t soak up in His Love daily, you’re definitely going to fall into the quilt and condemnation trap of the devil, and when you do, you’ll carry out actions that’ll affect your walk with God. You’ll feel unworthy and feel you have nothing doing, calling His name. To avoid being in this state, we need to soak in His Love daily… Jesus is God’s Love (in its FULL measure) to us.

“HIS MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING”… THAT’S BECAUSE WE NEED HIS MERCY DAILY

Jesus’ Love reaches out to us daily… Lamentations 3:22 and 23 tell us that “His mercies are new every morning”… He reaches out to us, because far beyond anything else, He wants a relationship with us. There’s no true and loving relationship that exist without a daily communication. His mercy that reaches to us, fresh, every morning is not just a gift He sends to us; it’s also His heart reaching out to us, calling us to come closer… to come higher.

HIS TEMPLATE REQUIRES IT

We serve a God that can’t show us step “z” when we’re still on step “A.” He reveals His plan as we trust Him on the move. There’s a path He want us to follow each day, but He doesn’t reveal the how of tomorrow, while it is till today. So if we don’t have His time each day, how do we know how, when and what to do?

From His relationship with the Israelites in the wilderness to the message Jesus, Himself, teaches in Mathew, we see that He wants to do life with us… daily. It’s His way. He can’t come down our ways; we have to go up His way.

IT’S A COMMAND!

In our opening scripture, Jesus reveals that a daily walk with Him is what He wants from us. Now, Jesus wouldn’t force us to do what He says; He wants us to do it out of love for Him. Nonetheless, when He says something, it’s not just a suggestion or an advice; it’s a command! Little wonder why Jesus in John 14: 15 (AMP) says “If you (really) love Me, you will keep (obey) my commands”

Jesus cannot require of us, anything we’re not capable of doing.

THE BEST PART

When we wake up every day with the thought: “how can I experience Jesus today?” we don’t have to figure it out with our human mind and strength; His Grace is like oil that’ll make this process flow easily and naturally. All we need do is desire, ask and believe for/in His Grace, and we’ll be just fine.

An Experience of Jesus is the reason there are Christians; an Experience of Jesus daily, is the reason there are Christians that stand out for their Faith, fearlessly.
