Self-check

The devil’s greatest weapon against humanity is deception. If you’ve decided to follow Jesus, you’ve escaped his highest deception. However, that doesn’t free you from his other deceptions.

You didn’t fall for his highest deception, but he won’t back down. The next attack will be to trick you into a place where you can’t access the benefits that come with being a child of God. The devil can’t take away your inheritance in Christ, but he can stop you from enjoying it.

The devil will make you believe that what matters doesn’t matter, and vice versa. For example, being a Christian is about who you are at your very core even when no one is watching, than what you say and do, because you’re conscious of who is watching. This particular deceit breaks my heart the most. I lived in this deceit, and it is my greatest desire to see Christians live free from it.

It’s one thing to be a Christian and another thing to enjoy the benefits that come with being a Christian. As a believer, if you aren’t in a constant and continuous communion with the Father, through Jesus, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you’ll easily live outside the benefits that come with eternal life— the life you inherited at salvation. Little wonder why the Bible says things like, “Search for the Lord and for His strength, continually seek Him.” Psalm 105: 4, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night…” Joshua 1:8, “Pray without ceasing.” 1Thess. 5:17.

The devil knows you need a constant and continuous communion with God. The devil’s strategy, therefore, is to make you stay away from this communion you so need, just to make sure you don’t realize how much you are and have in Christ.

What is taking your time and focus? Work? Relationships? Health? etc. If work, relationships, health or any other area of your life has preoccupied you, so much so, you can’t find an alone time with God each day, you’re not doing life the way you should as a believer. Why? Well, as a believer, you shouldn’t be able to separate work, relationships, health or any other aspect of your life from God. “For in Him we live, move and have our being…” Acts 17:28

Moreover, you should know that as a Christian, if you’re not communing with God, you’re communing with something else or someone else or someplace that isn’t God’s presence. You can’t be alive and sane without giving your time to something, someone or someplace. The devil just moved your attention from the most important place it’s supposed to be, to other places and things. Then, he makes you think you don’t have the time. No, you have the time for worship and communion. The only problem is, you’re worshipping and communing with other things, people, places, and not God.

When we read the story of the Israelites and their walk with God, as recorded in the Bible, we see this pattern coming to play. Whenever the Israelites weren’t paying attention to God, they were paying attention to other gods. Their issue with God was never about just living for themselves and not paying attention to anything, any god or any place. It was always about living for other gods and not paying attention to God. That’s the trick of the devil, and it never gets old. If you can’t find time with God, it only means you’re worshipping something else…I can’t say it enough. This disorder is from the devil, and the purpose is to keep you in a place where, though a Christian, your spirit, which is your connection to God, is deactivated. Hence, none of God in you can come on.

Do a self-check…

How often do you pray and read the Bible, all by yourself? What gives you strength? When you’re overwhelmed, what’s the first thing you do? What floods you with Joy, Peace and Hope? Do you really enjoy being a child of God?

I know, it’s one thing to know a truth, and yet another thing, altogether, to walk in that truth. So, I’m going to pray for you, like I prayed and is still praying for myself. You’ll not just know this truth, your life will be transformed by it.

My prayer for you and me:

May you step out and step up. You’ll never be a victim of the devil’s deceit, not anymore. May you develop a pure love for the sweet presence of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and may your life begin to exude and display the benefits of being a child of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
