I wasn’t going to put out a post this week. But in the morning of the day I started writing this post, the Holy Spirit dropped a thought in my heart. I heard my heart asking myself,
“But if we really believe in Jesus, why do we take His instructions and promises, that are explicitly written out in the Bible, for granted?”
This question was so heavy in my heart. I made the question personal, and then I also asked on behalf of every other Christian. As I asked, my heart searched through many areas, and I just knew God will have me blog about it.
There are many thoughts to consider, but I prayerfully chose a few…a few thoughts for us to really meditate on. That explains the title of the post- meditation. I don’t just want us to read through. I want us to actually mediate on them, and really get answers for ourselves, and maybe, for others too.
So here are the thoughts for meditation:
Is my life controlled by the supernatural or by the ordinary?
Mark 16: 17-18, “And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature (of the whole human race). He who believes- [that is,] who adheres to and trust in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth- and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death], but he who does not believe- who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth-will be condemned. And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; They will pick up serpents and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.” (AMPC)
The above words were Mark’s account of Jesus’ instructions to His disciples before His ascension. The promise “signs will accompany those who believe” is for every child of God here on earth. The disciples took that promise and the instruction to preach the Gospel to the whole human race…and they ran with it. Of course, the help of he Holy Spirit was needed.
How about you? Do you have the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Ghost? Are you walking in the supernatural? Are signs, that are Holy Spirit driven, following you? Are you experiencing the intervention of the supernatural in your daily activities? If No, why no? That is God’s desire for every believer, including you. So, why no? Meditate on it.
Do I really love others like I’m loved by God?
John 15:12, “This is my commandment, that you love one another [just] as I have loved you. (AMPC)
The above scripture is a speech, given by Jesus Himself. How are we loved by God? Answer: forever and unconditionally. So, do you love like Him?
Now, we have to understand that loving someone isn’t the same thing as being close to that person. God loves everyone in this world, but there are people that are separated from Him because they haven’t accepted the offering of Jesus. But how does God see them? What does God think about them? He sees them as lost sheep that are worthy to be brought back home to Him. He thinks so much of them that He allowed Jesus to die on the cross for them.
How do you see people? How do you think about people…especially people who wronged you and have hurt you really hard? Can you, comfortably, pray a heartfelt prayer of blessings over them? Can you sincerely pray to God to help them become better persons and learn to do better? If you can’t, it means you have unforgiveness in your heart.
We live in interesting times. Knowing how to get back at people through words and actions seems to be a survivor skill in today’s world. When you easily let go of hurts, you look stupid and foolish. You dare not make mistakes that people can be aware of, directly or indirectly, you’ll be dragged on social media platforms. Nobody is ready to hear your version of the story. Nobody cares if you’re already regretting your actions or not. If you’ve done wrong, you deserve to be shamed for it, in the nastiest and meanest way purpose. No mercy.
I’m not saying everyone should escape the penalties of their wrong doings. But, Christians shouldn’t follow the world and their ways of criticism. Every Christian should know how God will have them treat people. As a Christian, all your “wrong doers” shouldn’t face penalties and even when penalty is inevitable, forgiveness should always lead the way.
Do you have a heart that is controlled by God’s love? Meditate on it.
Am I really pushing the frontiers of God’s kingdom here on earth?
2 Corinthians 5:20, “So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favour [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.” (AMPC)
An ambassador is someone sent by his country, to a foreign country as a representative of his country in that foreign country. An ambassador promotes the values and standards of his own country, in the foreign country, where he finds himself. As Christians, this world is foreign to us. Our citizenship is in heaven. As strangers in this world, we’re here to actively promote the values and standards of heaven.
Check your daily pursuit. Check your goals and dreams. Check what ignites your joy and peace. Check what arouses the fullness of love on your inside. Are they advancing the kingdom of God? Meditate on it.
Is it okay to not have a constant and regular time with the Bible and in prayers (including prayers in the Holy Ghost)?
Matthew 4:4, “But He replied, it has been written, Man shall not live by bread alone and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (AMPC)
1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Be unceasing in prayer- praying perseveringly.” (AMPC)
Philippians 4:6, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition [definite request] with thanksgiving continue to make your wants known to God.” (AMPC)
Jude 20, “But you, beloved, build yourself up [founded] on your most Holy faith- make progress, rise Like an edifice higher and higher- praying in the Holy Ghost.” (AMPC)
Let’s take the above scriptures, one after the other. Every scripture is inspired by God. Men wrote the Bible as they were directed and led by God. In the Bible, we see God’s instructions and promises to us. When we study these instructions and promises they stir up our faith. The Word of God is food for our spirits. So, it is possible to walk with God and not have a love relationship with God’s Word?
Then, the Bible clearly says, we should pray always. The Bible also encourages us to not just pray but to build up ourselves by praying in the Holy Ghost. Through prayers, God speaks to us. Through prayers, we settle what we want to see in the physical, first, in the spiritual. Through prayers, we align ourselves with God’s will and purpose.
So, as a Christian, don’t you see an inconsistent prayer and Bible study life as abnormal? Don’t you find it strange that a Christian will always have time for every other thing in life, but hardly find time to really spend time with God, all alone? Meditate on it.

May the eyes of our understanding be flooded with Light…may that Light reveal what should go and what should stay in our lives…and may our lives never remain the same. In Jesus’ name… Amen.
