Who’s grateful to have made it into a brand New Year? Hands up!
I AM! I hope you are too.
In the early hours of 31st December 2024, I was praying and thanking God for the year that was coming to an end, and for the new year. As I prayed, the Holy Spirit led me to Genesis 1:1-4:
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good…
As I read those words, I immediately understood why God directed me to read those verses, and I’d love to share that insight with you.
Did God have a plan for earth? Yes, He did. He didn’t just have a plan – His plans were beyond beautiful. I mean look at the midday bright clouds, the setting of the sun at twilight, and the clutters of stars on the dark sky. Look at the magnificent oceans and waterfalls, the fishes that swim in them, the birds that hover over them. The tress that make up the forest and the animals that inhabit it. I could go on and on, but the point is clear: God had a beautiful plan. Yet none of God’s plans was visible on the earth, until he spoke them into existence.
What Am I trying to get at? Well, God has plans in store for you in 2025, but they aren’t going to just happen. I wish God could just speak His plans for you and me into existence like He did during creation, but it doesn’t work like that anymore. First, although God is the ultimate Creator, He has given us authority to have dominion here on earth and made us “mini-creators.” He has also given us the gift of free will – to decide what we want or don’t want. He can’t bring His plans for us into our reality without our collaboration.
Two key ways to collaborate with God:
Number 1: Have an unmovable faith in God and His good plans for you, as Jeremiah 29:11 promises.
Number 2: Be like God in the beginning. Always speak forth what you want to see.
It matters a whole lot what you believe and say about your health, career, finances, business, education, relationships, dreams, and more. Your faith and words will shape your 2025 and fill its void. Consistency matters too. You can’t believe today, doubt tomorrow, and believe again the day after.
James1:6-7 reminds us, “…you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord…”
Then, Job 22:28, says, “You will declare a thing, and it will be established for you…”
Proverbs 18:20-21 says, “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue…”
Matthew 12:37 says, “For by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned.”
Again, speak into 2025
Don’t just speak mere words, speak God’s promises over your life. Don’t just speak His promises; speak them with unshakeable faith. The year 2025 is like the earth in the beginning, waiting to be shaped. Give it form and fill its void.
Let’s write our end-of-2025 testimony using Genesis 1:1-4 as our inspiration:
In 2025, God and I created my experiences throughout the year. 2025 was without form and void, and because I believed God’s promises about me, I said, “Let there be joy, peace, prosperity, increase, miracles, and so much more,” and it was so. At the end of 2025, I saw that 2025 was good, reminiscent of the creation story in the beginning.
My prayer for you and me:
May we have the most blessed year we’ve ever experienced yet. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It’s a Beautiful New year.
